Progress and Renewal
So far, my intention to “regroup” this weekend has been fruitful. While I did not accomplish much yesterday in terms of tangible production (of words, work, etc.), I truly needed the day with my family — and myself — to reflect and “sharpen the saw” as the great Stephen Covey would say. Having the opportunity to reflect and gain clarity of mind, heart, and spirit was therefore so productive and meaningful for me, in and of itself; I also included a challenging workout this morning, to complete the fourth area of my life — physical renewal, as well. I know how important it is to have all four areas of renewal in order to be tangibly productive in other ways going forward.
Speaking of the Covey family, I was so honored and pleasantly surprised to see his son, Stephen M.R. Covey, “loved” my comment about his book Trust and Inspire overnight on LinkedIn, as I had recently seen and commented on a post about his book. I absolutely love this book, and it reminds me of how excited and inspired I felt when I read his father’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People when I was very early in my chemical engineering career at 22 years old. I highly recommend all the books this family has written. Interestingly, their books have also been a meaningful topic in my marriage, as well, since my husband loves their books and relies on their teachings at work and in life. It is a language my husband and I have in common (in addition to our faith) as we try to decipher and navigate the world together, and that is truly so special and meaningful.
All that said, I hope all of you are taking the time you need to “sharpen the saw” and renew yourself as well this weekend! All the best.
